The simplest itinerary rule
Finish the wet part of the holiday first. Balicasag trips, beach days, pools, freediving, scuba diving, saunas, and hot tubs should come before the appointment—not immediately after it.
Healing time varies, so a fixed return-to-water date should not replace an assessment of the skin and the aftercare instructions from your artist. Keep the tattoo out of pools, seawater, hot tubs, and other soaking water while it heals.

Why diving two days after a tattoo is a poor plan
Tattooing breaks the skin barrier. Ocean water, pools, tight equipment, prolonged moisture, sun, heat, and friction can complicate early aftercare. Do not set a two-day return-to-diving target; wait for the skin to heal and follow the aftercare advice given for your tattoo.
A wetsuit, buoyancy compensator, fin strap, or other equipment can also rub a new tattoo depending on its placement. Tell the artist about planned activities and equipment before choosing the body area.

Choose loose, clean clothing that can cover the area without scraping it. Avoid planning a long exposed motorbike ride, beach afternoon, or strenuous excursion immediately after the session.
Once the tattoo has healed, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher to help protect tattooed skin from ultraviolet light. Follow the artist’s instructions for the fresh-tattoo stage.
When to seek medical help
